We Rescue the Abandoned
Purring Hearts VA launched officially in January 2021 and are proud to call RVA home! We are the rescue division of Lionhearts, Inc and are affiliated with the Kincheloe Clinic in Fredericksburg, Va and Ashland, Va.We are privileged to be a Petsmart Adoption Partner. In late 2023, we added two new adoption locations and now adopt out of Petsmarts in Short Pump, Chester, and Midlothian. We also have cats in foster home across the Richmond area.
In 2025 we adopted out over 1,150 cats and kittens! Many came to us sick or from dangerous situations. We prioritize rescuing vulnerable cats and work with shelters in the Richmond area to pull cats that are in danger of euthanasia or that would do poorly in the shelter. We also help community members with concerns such as unmanaged populations, found cats, or situations where the cat can no longer be cared for. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we rely on donations and volunteers for this life-saving work!
